Hello Year 2, we hope you have all had a fantastic weekend and are now ready for another week of virtual learning. Just like last week, the night before each day we will post your resources and tasks for the next day. There will be a guided reading task, an English task, an maths task and then an extra subject such as history or art. As always please remember to just do as much as you can. We understand that everyone’s situation is different in these uncertain times so please do not panic about finishing every task we have set if that is not possible.
Similar to last week we have also created a weekly time table that you may use if you wish. This will tell you what the children will be learning each day and give you an order in which to complete the tasks if you wish to follow it.

Guided Reading: In Guided Reading today we would like you all to read the poem below ‘Rap Up Warm In Winter’ then answer the questions about what you have read.
On the question sheets there are 3 levels of difficulty, 1 star being the easiest, 2 stars being medium difficulty and 3 stars being the most challenging questions. You only need to answer one set of questions so please pick the level of difficulty that best matches your ability.

English: In English this week we are focusing on researching all about one of the Tudors most infamous monarchs, King Henry VIII. Today we would like the children to research; what King Henry enjoyed doing (hobbies), what he looked like, what he did as king and what his family was like.
The children may use any books they have on the Tudors or King Henry VIII, the internet or the PowerPoint we have attached below. Please remember when using the internet to use the Kidrex search engine to ensure that the children are only seeing child-friendly results. The children can record their finding on a word document, a sheet of paper or on the sheet below.

Maths: For maths today we will be completing a mental maths test. Attached below is the PowerPoint video with all the questions on which Miss Losty will read aloud for the children. The children will only need a piece of paper and a pencils to complete this task. At the end Miss Losty will go through the answers with the children.

Theme- Art: In the Tudor times, since cameras had not been invented, royalty and rich people paid artists to paint their portraits. The artists were often ordered to paint the portraits in a certain way, to make the people look better than they really were. Watch this Terrible Tudors clip as a funny example:

Today we will learn about Tudor portraits and begin to make our own. You will need a piece of plain paper, a sharp pencil and a ruler for this lesson. If you are able to print off the face template, please do this beforehand. If you cannot, this is not a problem. Please turn up the sound and focus on the HPL skill of accuracy for this lesson and take your time.
In the lesson, Mrs Wheeler asks you to take a virtual tour of a portrait gallery. Here is another link to take you straight to Tudor portraits in The National Portrait Gallery- do take a look if you can!

We hope all have an amazing day of learning and take care,
Miss Coleman, Mrs Wheeler and Miss Losty x
