Under 13’s match report
The Under 13’s showcased maturity and patience to complete a 3-1 victory in the third round of the National cup.
The boys went into half time 1-0 up thanks to the inform D.Osmond, who also left the cross bar rattling with a powerful strike from distance just before half time. The first half saw a variety of chances created by CCS mainly due to a barrage of corners causing problems for the away team.
Consistent pressure from CCS left the away team deep in their own half for a majority of the second half. However a free kick from distance for English Martyn allowed them back into the game at 1-1. CCS kept their heads held high and captain J.Rayfield kept the tempo of the game running smoothly with some great passing from centre of the pitch. CCS’s non stop pressure finally got its rewards with less than three minutes left in the game as a hand ball allowed L.Napodano to step up and place CCS back in front. Two minutes later L.Napodano doubled his goal tally to make the game 3-1 and see CCS through to the National cup fourth round.
The defence once again kept the opposition quite, in particular C.Chaplin who kept English Martyn’s attacking options at bay with some fantastic reading of the game and footballing ability.
The under 13 boys will now look forward to the fourth round of the National cup which will see them take to the road for a game at either Boston or Loughborough.
Player of the Match: L. Napodano ( Showed composure for two important goals when it mattered most. Especially from the penalty spot!)
